John Smith lives in Germantown, New York and has been a volunteer ski instructor with the Adaptive Sports Foundation’s winter program for eight years.
What brought you to the Adaptive Sports Foundation?
As a employee in the Windham Mountain Sports shop (and a die hard skier), I saw the volunteers at work. I also talked with them in the shop and learned first hand what a great program the ASF was.
What is the biggest benefit you received as a volunteer?
A wonderful feeling of satisfaction after every lesson! A bonus is the opportunity to volunteer with upbeat, positive, encouraging, helpful and just plain nice people.
What is your proudest moment at the ASF?
Every time a student smiles and states they had a fun and like skiing!
What advice would you give to someone interested in volunteer at the ASF?
If you are a patient person, like to ski or ride and want to give a student a wonderful day on the snow – go for it!
The ASF is very grateful to all our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, visit www.adaptivesportsfoundation.org.
