Since 2007, the Adaptive Sports Foundation’s Warriors in Motion program has been offering programs specific to female Wounded Warriors. The Women’s Multi Sport Retreat and Spa weekend, sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project®, combines a variety of rehabilitative activities (golf, paddling, restorative yoga and relaxation, and motivational lectures) and is structured to encourage injured female Wounded Warriors to discover freedom again through body and spirit.
Jacqueline Kaiser, a Wounded Warrior, was one of the attendees at this event, held in June at the Adaptive Sports Foundation.
In a letter she wrote to the ASF after the event, Jacqueline told us the following:
“I wanted to write and thank everyone for an amazing event that I will never forget. Finding out that my limitations weren’t as limiting as I had feared opened up a new avenue for me to get out of the house, get involved in SOMETHING, and simply DO more….
Your organization opened my eyes and showed me that indeed, I CAN do it. I now actually USE my golf clubs, even if it’s only at the driving range. I have also begun kayaking and plan to continue to kayak this season. I wouldn’t have taken theses leaps if it hadn’t been for all of the amazing ladies that volunteered and worked the ASF’s Warriors in Motion Women’s Multi Sport Retreat. “
Warriors in Motion events continue to provide our injured wounded warriors with opportunities to heal through physical activity and comradery with their peers and with the caring members of the Adaptive Sports Foundation staff.
